Ingredients
Scale
Proteins:
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5 pounds)
Cooking fats and aromatics:
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
Seasonings and flavorings:
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- salt to taste
- black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Pat your 1.5 lbs of chicken breasts dry using paper towels, then sprinkle each piece with salt and black pepper to your liking.
- Heat 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat until it’s foaming and ready for your chicken.
- Place the chicken breasts in the hot skillet and let them cook undisturbed for 6-7 minutes at medium-high heat until the bottoms turn golden brown.
- Flip each piece over and cook for another 6-7 minutes at the same temperature until your chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
- Transfer your cooked chicken to a plate and set it aside while you prepare the sauce.
- Lower your heat to medium and add the remaining 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter to the skillet.
- Stir in 4 minced garlic cloves and cook for about 1 minute at medium heat, stirring occasionally so the garlic becomes fragrant without browning.
- Pour 2 tablespoons of lemon juice into the skillet along with 1/4 cup of fresh chopped parsley and 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes, then stir everything together.
- Let this mixture simmer for 1-2 minutes at medium heat to blend the flavors.
- Return your chicken to the skillet and spoon the garlic butter sauce over each piece.
- Simmer everything together for 2-3 minutes at medium heat so your chicken absorbs the sauce flavors.
- Transfer your chicken to a serving platter and drizzle any remaining sauce from the skillet over the top before serving warm.
Notes
- Drying your chicken breasts thoroughly before cooking helps them brown evenly and get that golden crust that makes this dish special.
- Cook your chicken over medium-high heat without moving it around too much, since letting it sit undisturbed gives each side time to develop that beautiful golden color.
- The garlic can burn quickly once added to the hot skillet, so keep the heat at medium and stir it constantly for just about a minute to keep it fragrant without turning bitter.
- If red pepper flakes aren’t your thing or you’re cooking for someone who prefers milder flavors, just skip them or reduce the amount—the garlic butter sauce is delicious either way.
