Ingredients
Scale
Protein:
- 4 chicken breasts
Hot Honey Sauce:
- 1/2 cup honey
- 3 tablespoons hot sauce
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
Seasonings:
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Pat your 4 chicken breasts dry with paper towels, then season both sides with 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, 1 teaspoon paprika, 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper, 1/2 teaspoon onion powder, and 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder.
- Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat for about 1 minute until it foams.
- Lay your 4 chicken breasts in the skillet and sear them for 6 to 7 minutes on the first side until golden brown.
- Flip each breast and sear the other side for 5 to 6 minutes until golden, then move them to a plate.
- In the same skillet, add 4 minced garlic cloves and 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes, cooking for 30 seconds at medium-high heat until fragrant.
- Pour 1/2 cup honey and 3 tablespoons hot sauce into your skillet, stirring constantly for 1 minute until everything combines.
- Place the chicken breasts back into the skillet and turn them to coat thoroughly with the honey mixture.
- Lower your heat to medium-low and let the chicken simmer for 8 to 10 minutes while occasionally spooning sauce over the breasts until the internal temperature reaches 165°F at the thickest part.
- Transfer your chicken to a serving plate and drizzle any remaining sauce from the skillet over the top before plating.
Notes
- Pat your chicken completely dry before seasoning, as moisture prevents that golden-brown crust from forming properly.
- Don’t skip preheating the skillet with butter until it foams, because this step ensures your chicken gets an even sear on the first side.
- Keep the heat at medium-low during simmering so the honey sauce doesn’t burn and the chicken stays juicy instead of drying out.
- Spoon the sauce over the chicken several times while it simmers, which helps the flavors soak in and keeps the top from drying out as it cooks.
