Description

Golden crispy chicken tenders are what you make when you need dinner on the table fast and everyone at your table happy. Coat your chicken pieces in seasoned flour, pan-fry them until they’re golden and crunchy on the outside, and serve them with whatever sides make your family smile.

Ingredients

Scale

Protein:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5 pounds)

Coating and breading:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup seasoned breadcrumbs (or panko)

Seasonings:

  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  1. Heat your oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper while it preheats.
  2. Slice your 1.5 lbs of chicken breasts into strips that are roughly 1 inch wide.
  3. Pour 1 cup of all-purpose flour into one shallow bowl and mix it with 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp pepper, 1 tsp garlic powder, and 1 tsp paprika.
  4. Crack 2 large eggs into a second shallow bowl and beat them together until combined.
  5. Put 1 cup of seasoned breadcrumbs into your third shallow bowl.
  6. Take each chicken strip and coat it thoroughly in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
  7. Dip your floured strip into the egg mixture, making sure both sides are covered.
  8. Roll the strip in the breadcrumbs until it has a complete coating on all sides, then place it on your prepared baking sheet.
  9. Repeat the coating process with the remaining strips, arranging them in a single layer on the sheet.
  10. Bake at 400°F for 10 to 12 minutes, then flip each strip over.
  11. Continue baking for another 10 to 13 minutes at 400°F until the coating turns golden brown and crispy.
  12. Remove your tenders from the oven and let them rest for a couple of minutes before serving with the dipping sauce of your choice.

Notes

  • Pat your chicken strips dry with paper towels before breading so the coating sticks better and crisps up nicely in the oven.
  • Don’t skip flipping the tenders halfway through baking, since this helps both sides get equally golden and keeps them from sticking to the parchment paper.
  • For extra crunch, mix a tablespoon of cornstarch into your breadcrumbs before coating each strip.
  • If someone in your household follows a gluten-free diet, swap regular flour and breadcrumbs with gluten-free versions and the tenders turn out just as crispy.
