Description

Baked chicken stuffed crescent rolls is what happens when you combine shredded chicken, cream cheese, and flaky pastry for an easy weeknight dinner that your family will actually finish. These rolls bake up golden and tender, giving you a comforting meal that tastes like you spent way more time in the kitchen than you actually did.

Ingredients

Scale

Filling ingredients:

  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 0.5 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 0.5 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 0.25 cup chopped green onions
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch pepper

Dough:

  • 2 cans refrigerated crescent rolls

Instructions

  1. Heat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly coat a baking sheet with cooking spray.
  2. Combine 2 cups shredded cooked chicken, 1/2 cup softened cream cheese, 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese, 1/4 cup chopped green onions, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon onion powder, and salt and pepper to taste in a bowl until everything binds together.
  3. Open your 2 cans of refrigerated crescent rolls and unroll each triangle piece.
  4. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the chicken filling across the wide section of each triangle.
  5. Roll each triangle tightly from the wide end toward the point and position seam-side down on your prepared sheet.
  6. Slide the sheet into your preheated oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes until the rolls develop a deep golden color.
  7. Take the sheet out and let your rolls rest for 2 to 3 minutes before serving them.

Notes

  • Make sure your chicken is shredded finely so it distributes evenly throughout the filling and doesn’t create lumpy pockets in your rolls.
  • Don’t overstuff your crescents because the filling will leak out during baking and create a mess on your sheet; a heaping tablespoon is really the right amount.
  • Brush the tops of your rolled crescents with a beaten egg or a little melted butter before baking to get them extra golden and help them brown more evenly.
  • For a lower-carb version, swap the crescent rolls for low-carb tortillas or phyllo sheets, though your baking time may be slightly shorter so check them around 10 minutes.
