Ingredients
Scale
Crust Base:
- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 1 package dry active yeast
- 3/4 tablespoon sugar
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1.5 cups warm water
- 4 tablespoons canola oil
Toppings:
- 0.25 to 0.5 cup favorite barbecue sauce
- 2 cups cooked chicken sliced
- 0.25 red onion sliced
- 4 ounces whole milk mozzarella cheese thinly sliced
- 0.5 cup shaved parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Combine 3 cups all purpose flour, 1 package dry active yeast, 3/4 tablespoon sugar, and 2 teaspoons salt in a large bowl.
- Pour in 1 1/2 cups warm water and 2 tablespoons canola oil, then stir everything together until the mixture comes together.
- Cover your bowl and let the dough rest in a warm spot for 1 hour until it rises.
- Dust your countertop with flour and transfer the dough onto the floured surface.
- Knead the dough gently for a few minutes until your hands no longer feel sticky dough, then use a rolling pin to shape it into a 16 inch circle.
- Move your dough to a greased 16 inch pizza pan.
- Heat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Use your greased fingers to press dimples across the dough surface, then drizzle the remaining 2 tablespoons canola oil over the top.
- Spread 1/4 to 1/2 cup barbecue sauce across your dough in a light layer so the flavor stays balanced.
- Layer 4 ounces thinly sliced whole milk mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
- Arrange 2 cups sliced cooked chicken and 1/4 sliced red onion across your cheese layer.
- Sprinkle 1/2 cup shaved parmesan cheese evenly over the top.
- Bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 to 35 minutes until the crust turns golden brown.
- Let your pizza cool for a few minutes before cutting and serving.
Notes
- Let your dough rise in a warm spot like the top of your refrigerator or near a sunny window, and it’ll puff up perfectly in about an hour.
- Don’t spread the BBQ sauce all over the dough since it can overpower the other flavors, so drizzle it in patches instead.
- Press dimples into the dough with your fingertips before adding toppings because this helps the crust stay sturdy and prevents it from puffing up too much in the oven.
- Check the pizza at the 30-minute mark by looking at the crust edges – if they’re golden brown and the cheese is melted, it’s ready to come out, though some ovens need the full 35 minutes.
